This Chatham, New Jersey renovation transformed the primary suite into a more comfortable and complete private retreat. The project combined a marble bathroom with heated flooring and a steam shower, plus a dedicated coffee room built directly into the master bedroom.
Marble Throughout the Bathroom
Marble tile was carried across the bathroom floor and onto the walls behind the freestanding tub, creating a consistent material story throughout the room. The natural veining brings movement to the light palette, while the warm wood vanity and detailed wallcovering add contrast and depth.
Heated Floors for Everyday Comfort
A heated-floor system was installed beneath the marble tile. Radiant floor heat makes the bathroom more comfortable during New Jersey winters and helps the stone surface feel inviting first thing in the morning.
A Custom Steam Shower
The large glass enclosure was designed as a true steam shower with full-height marble surfaces, a tiled ceiling, built-in bench, recessed niche, overhead rain shower, wall shower and handheld fixture. The nearly frameless glass keeps the detailed stonework visible and allows the bathroom to feel open.
Freestanding Tub and Custom Vanity
The freestanding tub sits against a marble feature wall beneath the window, creating a quiet focal point. Across the room, a custom double vanity provides extensive storage, two illuminated mirrors and a central full-height cabinet that organizes the long countertop.
A Coffee Room Inside the Master Bedroom
Beyond the bathroom, we created a separate coffee room within the master bedroom. Custom green cabinetry houses a built-in coffee maker, under-counter refrigerator and dishwasher. A sink, stone countertop, open wood shelves, brass hardware and coordinated wallcovering turn the compact space into a fully functional morning station without requiring a trip downstairs.

Designed as One Complete Primary Suite
Although the bathroom and coffee room serve different purposes, the project feels cohesive through its custom cabinetry, stone surfaces, warm metal finishes and careful lighting. Together, they make the primary suite more luxurious, practical and comfortable for everyday use.
